Finals day. The weather saved the best till last, apart from a heavy shower in the morning it was a very pleasant day, someone had turned the wind down and all this made it easier for really good golf to be played by the two finalists.
A re-run of last years final between Sarah Jane Boyd ( Truro) and Katie Rule (St Enodoc), both played very well but Sarah Jane took an early lead only to be pulled back by Katie, so they were all square after 16 holes. Sarah Jane won the 17th to go into lunch 1up. Hardly a shot had been dropped.
In the afternoon Katie won the 1st to go all square only to miss a shortish putt on the 2nd to lose the hole but bounced back to win the 3rd ,then Katie drove out of bounds on the 4th and lost the hole. This see-saw golf continued. Katie was 1 down after12 holes then 3 putted the 13th to go 2 down, halved the 14th, 15th and 16th and 17th to lose 2&1.
It was a fine display of golf and was enjoyed by all the spectators.
County Captain announced the squad for the team that will represent Cornwall at the match week in June at Trevose where six counties get together and play each other. Jan Sargeant and Micah Carroll were both named in the squad. Congratulations to them both.
